In July, Jawbone announced a new product that veered off radically from its familiar line-up of Bluetooth Headsets. "Up" by Jawbone is a wristband that tracks your movement, eating habits, and sleeping patterns to guide you to a healthier life. This funky looking wristband seems to be a little bit closer to wrapping itself around your wrist, as Jawbone announced the full details about the product today.
Jawbone Up is a water-resistent, stylish wristband with a built-in accelerometer that syncs with an iOS app. It will track how well you are sleeping, then vibrate to wake you up. It will vibrate to let you know when you've been sedentary for too long. Each time you sync the Up to an iOS device - by plugging it into the headphone jack - you will see colourful graphs of the information that's just been passed off from the Up to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Up also comes with a social element. Users can join groups and go on challenges together. Users can also share various stats collected by the Up. This is quite similar to Nike+ and the FitBit. We haven't seen all of Up's web portion yet, but we are excited to see how it will compare to other social-fitness services on the web.
The Up is priced at $99, and will be released in the States on November 6th. Check out the promo video after the break.
