HTC and Facebook may have another bun in the oven. Chinese publication Digitimes reports that HTC and Facebook are working on a successor to last year's Facebook-focused Android phones. They say the two companies are working in tandem to produce a "customized smartphone" with "a platform exclusive to Facebook to enable and integrate all functions available on the social networking site." The new Facebook phone is expected ship in the third quarter of 2012 at the earliest.
Last year we reviewed the HTC Status, HTC-made Facebook phone with a BlackBerry-esque QWERTY keyboard. We thought the HTC Status generally worked well, but it did not offer much more social-functionality than other smartphones - aside from introducing us to the highly-addictive Facebook button. What will this year's Facebook phones bring? Perhaps a Like button on the keyboard?
