Google gobbles up Sparrow

The great thing about being a giant software company is that you can gobble up smaller companies that make better products than you in order to eliminate competition. Embracing the Kronos effect, Google did just that with Sparrow. Sparrow announced this morning that the Mountain View giant has acquired them for an unspecificied amount of money - rumored to be under $25 million - and that no further updates will be provided to Sparrow clients on Mac and iOS.

Google hasn't announced which division Sparrow team will join, but it is highly likely that this team will join the Gmail team to make a better Gmail client for various platforms.
