This is an interesting piece of rumour floating around: Microsoft's Surface RT tablet - the 'not intel' version - will reportedly sell for $199. The ARM-based Surface RT tablet runs on a Tegra 3 chipset with an approximately 720p HD display at 10.6 inches. Looking at similar tablets on the market today - 8GB Nexus 7 at $199, iPad 2 at $350 - the $199 price sounds very feasible.
Windows 8 RT is a relatively unproven OS with less apps than other tablet platforms. Microsoft must have learned from the PlayBook's mistake to figure that a low price is the only way to go against the market leaders. Smart move.
